The club proudly hosted its 2017 College Preparation Seminar on Tuesday evening at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. The goal of the evening was to inform, educate and help guide players and their families into the next phase of their soccer careers, at the college level.
U.S. Coast Guard Academy Men's Soccer and SSC Head Coach Chris Parsons hosted the event, which saw the over 150 families congratulate Coach Parsons on his recent induction into the Connecticut Soccer Hall of Fame.
Joining Coach Parsons was Mitchell College Men's Soccer and 2002 Boys Head Coach Damian Houlden, Connecticut College Women's Soccer, 2002 Head Coach and Club Director of Coaching Norm Riker and Bentley University Men's Soccer Head Coach Gary Crompton.
The 4 coaches talked about the process of athletes selecting potential colleges, the recruitment process, commitments and also typical season cycles and expectations of a college athlete. The audience was then invited to ask questions of the panelists, which proved to be a very productive phase of the evening.
At the conclusion of the evening, players and their families interacted personally with the panelists to gain a little more specific information in regards to their situations and aspirations.
